At the age of 27, I took an extended leave from working for a premier global business risk and consulting firm to focus my energy on something about which I feel very passionately – teaching a philosophy of reason and championing the protection of individual human rights.
We are living during a very pivotal time. At the time of writing this (April 2010), I have no doubt that the months and years ahead will greatly influence the future of our country and the world. The recent global financial crisis has been extremely painful for many. At the risk of sounding overly pessimistic, the recent crisis is just scratching the surface of a much larger problem. America is under a mountain of debt and the risk of massive inflation appears unavoidable. The nation's financial situation is extremely ominous given the fact that America has shifted from being a nation of producers to being a nation of consumers. America has become an imperialistic warfare state abroad and a welfare-nanny state at home. These social and economic tragedies are the inevitable result of a society living on the foundation of an irrational philosophy. The principles upon which this great nation were founded have been eroded to a point where it is difficult to remember how a society of free individuals might operate.
The American citizens are frustrated but don't know where to turn. Politicians in Washington and the mainstream media offer us a false alternative or no alternative. The purpose of this site is to provide the intellectual tools required for individuals to begin the process of building a complete, consistent philosophy compatible with life and liberty. A-equals-A.com is dedicated to showing there is a clear, non-contradictory alternative. The only formula to save America is A=A. Identify things as they are. Eliminate contradiction.

What is 'A = A'?
The Only Formula to Save America... A=A is derived from what is commonly referred to in the Aristotelian tradition as the Law of Identity and/or the Law of Non-Contradiction:
The concept of identity is essential because it explicitly defines reality as having a definite and knowable nature. Reality is neither true nor false – it simply is. Contradictions do not exist in reality. A is A.
Only man made judgments and evaluations of reality can contradict one another. Reason is the process we use to validate ideas and concepts using the method of logic.
We choose our values and actions based on our view of the world. Reason, however, is not automatic. Human knowledge can error. The use of reason to validate concepts is a volitional, focused effort.
Most people do not choose to integrate concepts (or ignore its hierarchical conceptual roots) and introduce contradictions into their belief system. Politicians spend an enormous amount of effort trying disassociate political concepts from any hierarchical context.
Once you view American public policy in a proper hierarchical context, it becomes apparent why America needs saving...American policy is an intricate series of contradiction built on contradiction. The only way to save America is to identify these policies as they are and eliminate the contradictions.
The purpose of A-equals-A.com is to provide a framework to place concepts in the appropriate context of an integrated philosophy.

What does the A $ A symbol mean?

Supremacy of Reason
Human beings live in a world where reality exists absolute and independent from us. Reason is an individual's only source of knowledge and an individual's primary tool for survival. Our knowledge is validated through the process of reason and rational action is our only means of sustaining life. A philosophy that holds A does not have to equal A if our consciousness does not wish it to be so is the direct cause of every man-made evil in human history.
Human Rights
Although the term 'individual rights' is essentially a redundancy, the concept of rights has been so perverted it requires specification. By the very definition of rights, individual human rights are the only kind of rights that exist. A-equals-A.com champions human rights and rejects any false notion of collectivized rights or any actions that violate the individual rights of another. Every person has a right to his or her life. Every person has a right to his or her justly acquired property.
Voluntary Exchange
Given the supremacy of reason and the absolute nature of human rights, it logically follows that all exchanges between and associations amongst people must be voluntary. One cannot support human rights by violating the rights of another through coercive action. Likewise, one cannot support human rights by hiring a third-party or voting into office a third-party to violate the rights of another. All unilaterally-contracted Statist institutions are a violation of human rights. The only political and economic system compatible with human rights is complete and total laissez-faire, free-market of voluntary exchange.
